About the Speaker:

Betty Metz, BS, c-SSBB, MDS-CCP is the current Minimum Data Set (MDS-LTC) and Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS-HH) coordinator for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. She has been responsible for training and daily questions about OASIS and MDS from stakeholders statewide since 2012 and 2015, respectively. She is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt in Healthcare via Villanova University, and is certified in MDS via the MDS Training Institute. Before working for the state, Betty received a BS from the University of Iowa. After working for 10 years in basic medical research and co-authoring peer-reviewed journal articles, she began a career in federal regulatory affairs and healthcare quality improvement. She is proud of assisting Colorado physicians in obtaining national recognition for excellence in diabetes care. She is also proud of training personnel from about half of the Colorado skilled nursing facilities in MDS over the past two years. Betty lives with her 85-year-old mother and 25-year-old daughter and two cats. She is an avid knitter, and loves to play low brass in several types of bands.
