Antibiotic Awareness Week Toolkit
U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week is an annual one-week observance that gives participating organizations an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of appropriate antibiotic use to combat the threat of antibiotic resistance. Be Antibiotics Aware, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) educational effort, complements U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week with up-to-date information to help improve antibiotic prescribing and use in the U.S. Share your commitment to antibiotic stewardship with your partners and patients with a simple four-step marketing plan:
Spread the word in your newsletter. Announce your commitment to antibiotic stewardship with an Antibiotic Awareness Week story in your organization newsletter. Please feel free to copy and paste these articles for patients and families or healthcare professionals into your own publications.
Display posters and handouts. Print and share handouts and posters with patients and healthcare providers, like these posters for patient waiting rooms. Select items are now available in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Chinese and Korean here.
Play videos on iPads and TV screens in your medical office, pharmacy, waiting room, or lobby.
Leverage social media. Share social media messages, images and animated graphics on your organization’s social media channels. Remember to use #USAAW18 and #BeAntibioticsAware in every post. Feel free to adapt the sample messages below to your organization’s social media channels:
