Sheri Weaver-Isvik
Telligen QIN Beneficiary and Family Advisory Council

Sheri Weaver-Isvik has built her career on a love for the elderly. As a member of the Telligen Beneficiary and Family Advisory Council (BFAC), she’s sharing what she’s learned about our evolving healthcare system with others who share this commitment.

Weaver-Isvik has served as long-term care administrator of Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake, Iowa, for more than 22 years. She also manages an outpatient therapy center, assisted living apartments, a pediatric therapy clinic and a home care service for her employer, ABCM Corporation. But her connection to healthcare goes back much further, starting as a nurse’s aide in high school followed by nearly three decades of experience as a long-term care charge nurse and nursing supervisor.

“I have had wonderful learning experiences with Telligen and have involved all of our team leaders in this education,” Weaver-Isvik says. “Our facility has greatly benefited from this education. When the opportunity to become an advisor arose, I was anxious to see what an advisor member entailed. I love being able to network with others in regard to healthcare and feel this is another way for me to gain knowledge of our ever-changing, and often-confusing, healthcare system. I am interested in helping others learn about these changes and provide education whenever necessary.”

Over the years, Weaver-Isvik has become an advocate for person-directed care and has spoken to healthcare administration students and other organizations about person-directed care in long-term care facilities. Oakwood Care Center was person-directed care certified by ABCM in 2015.

In addition to her activities with the BFAC, Weaver-Isvik holds leadership roles in her community church, serves on the emergency management board for the Community Emergency Response Team for Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, and retains a lifetime membership in Beta Sigma Phi. She is a past president of the Garner, Iowa Jaycee Ettes and executive vice president of the Iowa Jaycee Ettes organization.
